Cronin Chronicle #2

Cronin Chronicle  for the week of October 1st - 5th.

Reading-  Our story this week for our Journeys series was Diary of a Spider - by Doreen Cronin!  The students wanted to know when she could come in and read to our class...I had to tell them that unfortunately, we are not related.   We really did enjoy reading the story together as a class - it is a very funny book.  We worked on connections this week, as well as cause and effect during our morning reading time. 

Writing-  Writing time was a busy time this week.  We have been working on kinds of sentences: sentences that are statements, sentences that are questions, and sentences that are exclamatory sentences.  We have also been working on what nouns are and the difference between common nouns and proper nouns.  We finished this week in writing with some seasonal fun...our class wrote about their favorite Halloween things.

Math-  We are nearly finished with unit two in our Everyday Math.  This last week we worked on What's My Rule function tables, number machine in-out function tables, and some subtraction problems.  We also worked on number collection boxes, and we continue to practice working with time and money. 

I spy Ipads....Yes it's true...We worked with Ipads this past Friday October 5th.  We were able to rotate all of our students in, and they were awesome!  They did a great job of working carefully and following directions.  There will be much more Ipad fun and excitement in the near future.
